![]() Problem? Or just paranoid? This is normal fluctuation, temps between 90C and 105C are the normal operating rages for the thermostat. Temp does come down if I turn the heat on, but still maintains around 91 or 92. Pulled the heater core hose with the system hot and only got coolant out of the little bleed hole, will try again with the system running and hold the engine speed at 2k to get good circulation, but don't think its air related. No loss of coolant, sits at MAX line when hot. ![]() Cross-posting from the Q5 forum to try and get as much input as I can. Haven't had to have the HVAC running as much with the milder weather now so maybe that is causing a change too.Ĭoncerned this could be an early sign of failing thermostat but want to see what everyone's experience is. They always come back down to around 93/94 deg C but I just don't remember seeing that much variability before, but maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. This week, I feel like coolant temps have been less stable, varying from 90 or 91 deg C, up to 96/97 deg C. I don't remember it varying that much after that but at the same time would have been using either the AC or the heat a fair amount. After the CPS it always sat around 93 deg C, which made sense since the larger HX is going to block some flow to the main radiator. Using Torque with OBDLink MX coolant temp was basically steady around 90-91 deg C. is that high the programmer allows me to set alarms if coolant, engine temp, transmission temp etc are too high. Install was done in late August of last year. 443 Reaction score 33 Ram Year N/A Engine N/A only had the truck a few weeks, i just installed a performance chip and noticed the coolant was running around 200. Did some searching and reading on thermostat failures and people seeing high coolant temps, wondering what everyone's normal coolant temp fluctuations are on their daily commute.īackground: 2016 SQ5 Stage 2 DP, with APR CPS, divorced coolant loop, vacuum filled.
